One more time!

More playing in the studio. I like this one better than the feet shot I got last week.

Ok so I’ve been producing Self Portraits for, well as long as I can remember. I’m also notorious for “making” my student produce them. Yes “MAKING THEM” and they act like it’s killing them!

I’ve been talking with a friend about why artist create Self Portraits and what they mean to us.

So why do we do this? These are some of the reasons we came up with.

• To show others “How I see myself”
• To show others “How I wish to be seen”
• To show others “How I think others see me”
• To document “How I’m changing”
• As a record of both the good and the bad things that happen to me
• As a record  for myself and my loved ones
• As a way of dealing with our own mortality
• Because the model is always there
• We’re “self absorbed egomaniacs”
• We’re shy and afraid to ask people to model

Alright, we all know which reasons are mine! So enough babble, here are some more images.

So, I’ve joined a flickr group called Self Centered Sunday.

I did this to force myself to be more consistent and to perhaps motivate some of you to join the fun. We shall see!
